On Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, hundreds of abolitionists joined together at the capitol to demand the abolition of abortion in Oklahoma. This marks the eighth year of doing this, and we say that not to celebrate, but to lament. However, praise God that people are still showing up, many of them new faces. Several pastors brought people from their churches with them to demand abolition of their legislators.

First, abolitionists met together to be instructed on lobbying their legislatures, and then they did so. Many were able to meet directly with their legislators, and others were able to set up meetings with them for later on. This is the most important thing we at AAOK want to facilitate.

Senator Deevers’ SB456, The Abolition of Abortion Act, is the legislation that they were promoting. Abolitionists piled into offices to ask these legislators to support this bill. It was the second day of session in the Oklahoma legislature, so many were in meetings, but their presence was felt nonetheless.

After this, abolitionists gathered in front of the capitol, and made their voices heard. They sang Amazing Grace, Psalm 72 to the tune of Auld Lang Syne, and Christ the Solid Rock. Check it out:
