10:00 am - Noon - Activism
Noon - 1:00 PM - Rally

Please plan to arrive by 9:30 am. Other groups will also be present at the Capitol so it will be busy and it could take a little time to get through security.

Parking: The south lot will fill up quickly. Additional parking is available on the east and west sides of Lincoln Blvd. If you park on the east lot, you can take the tunnel to the main entrance to the Capitol building (this lot will also fill up quickly). If you park on the west lot near the Corporation Commission building (the Jim Thorpe office building), you will need to cross Lincoln at the cross walk.

Getting into the Building: From the south lot or the west overflow lots, as you approach the south steps of the Capitol, take the sidewalk to the right of the steps. This will take you down to the main entrance. From the east lot, take the tunnel.

Security: There are certain items that are not allowed (no guns). Pocket knives depend on the person working the checkpoint so it is best to just leave them in your vehicle. Larger knives are definitely not allowed at all.

After you get through Security: Take the elevator to the 1st Floor and look for the 1st Floor security checkpoint. It's the only one on that floor and you cannot miss it. The Multipurpose Rooms are right next to that checkpoint.

Activism: At 10:00 am in the Multipurpose Room, we will quickly go over the agenda for the day and give you some tips on talking to your legislators. We will then divide into groups and go leave a one-pager for SB456 with each legislator. We will also have drop cards for you to take to your personal legislators (both your Representative and you Senator).

Rally: Once everyone is done inside, you can go outside to the South Steps. You will exit the building near the checkpoint where you entered the building. The rally will begin at noon and last approximately an hour. We will send a text shortly before the rally is about to begin (see below).

Updates during the day: Text ABODAY to 844-705-0528 to receive updates if anything changes through the course of the day. By texting ABODAY to this number you are not agreeing to receive any other text messages from AAOK except what we need to send to update Abolition Day attendees. We will also send out two or three follow up texts following Abolition Day. After that, that text opt-in will not be used again until the next Abolition Day. However, if you would like to receive regular legislative updates and other texts from AAOK, you can text AAOK to that same number. Additionally, to join our prayer team, text PRAYER to that number to receive prayer team prayer requests.
